In support of government’s desire to increase supply of domestic gas (DOMGAS) to local industries and power plants, SPDC submitted a plan to government in October 2008 detailing out steps to increase its contribution to the DOMGAS market between 2008 and 2013; divided into short-term and medium-term supply targets. The short-term covers a period of 2008 – 2010 and includes refurbishment/expansion of existing plants and completion of on-going projects in selected locations (referred as gas hubs), and AGG nodes. This is aimed at increasing supply to circa 1.3bscfd supply target from the current 900MMscfd supply rate. The medium-term plan from 2011 – 2013 is aimed at further capacity expansion at the identified gas hubs with wellstream supply from immediate and remote fields to achieve a supply target of circa 2bscfd.

Newcross Exploration and Production Limited (NewcrossEP), on behalf of its joint venture partners Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC), Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) and Total E&P plan to build and operate a Crude Storage and Handling Terminal with De-Watering (Liquid Treatment Facility) and Re-injection facilities at OML 024. With a Storage Terminal, the Project shall enable Company meet its business objectives of maximizing production uptime during periods of vandalization or leaks occurring in the Nembe Creek Trunk Line (NCTL), while with a ‘De-watering and Produced Water Re-injection Plant, Company will realize its objective of a reduced Operating Expenditure (OPEX) by eliminating or reducing to the barest minimum, Crude Transport and Handling costs, given a massive reduction in gross liquids transported and handled at Bonny Crude Oil Terminal (BCOT) or others.

The OML-40 (NPDC/Elcrest JV) Asset located in the Niger Delta comprise of Opuama, Gbetiokun, Abiala, Adagbassa and Tsekelewu fields. The Asset is currently producing from the Opuama field following series of field developmental activities which has increased production to about 30,000bopd. In line with NNPC and NPDC/Elcrest JV drive to ramp up crude oil production, development of Gbetiokun field proven to have high hydrocarbon potential is currently ongoing. The activities commenced with Gbetiokun-1 and 3 completions and drilling of Two (2) new (Gbetiokun 4 & 5) wells with current Oil production circa 11,000bopd. At full field development, it is projected that volumes would increase to about 45,000bopd. This will bring the total crude oil production in OML 40 to about 80,000bopd. Permanent crude oil evacuation from the Gbetiokun field is planned to be through a 12” x 30km pipeline running from Gbetiokun production facilities to Adagbassa Manifold where it will tie into the 16” x 36km Opuama- Otumara export pipeline, as against the current crude oil barging operations with its attendant cost and safety risks implications. The pipeline is expected to have a design life of about 25 years, buried at minimum of about 4.5m depth with a design pressure of 100barg. The services required generally consist of the review of all Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) necessary for the successful completion of the Detailed Engineering Design, Procurement, Construction and Installation for Gbetiokun to Adagbassa Manifold Crude Oil Delivery Line in OML-40.
